Joseph Wallis died  on 24th September,1914, after he had been sent back to a base hospital on the coast but as yet there is no further information as to when and where he was wounded. The 3rd Worcestershire battalion was part of 7 Brigade,  3rd Division that had landed in France at the start of the war and had been involved in much of the fighting since then including the Battle of the Aisne in September.
